The rear subframe has proven to be flexing under the load of semislicks or full slick tyres.
A couple of Elises and Exiges were diagnosed with unround and torn boltholes in the subframe by Phoenix Motorsport in Lancashire who initially came up with this solution.
Meanwhile, cars have been found to have cracked subframes which of course is something you’d rather not come accross!
Certainly the older cars seem to start cracking around the welds.
This BraceBar is a simple way of preventing the subframe from flexing and ultimately from cracking. Certainly when you are running semislicks or even full slicks a brace bar is something you’d really want to install on your car.
Mind you, this brace bar can only be used on aftermarket toe link kits like our elise-shop.com toe-link kit.
To prevent any interference issues with exhaust systems the brace bar will be delivered with 10mm spacers and bolts. You might need to shim the BraceBar for your car when it’s equipped with a different exhaust manifold or even a different engine. You might also have to slightly modify the brace bar depending on the configuration of your car.
This might not be a simple bolt on upgrade, you might need more time to get it to work for you.
