Rod ends are a known source for MOT failures on an Elise, Exige or 340R..
When checking the rod ends, have a good look at the rubber dust caps. If you see any cracks or even a splitted cap, you will need to replace the rod end.
You should also check for play. Turn the steering wheel to the end position where you can see the rod end you’d like to check. Then hold the wheel in place and try to wiggle the steering wheel. If you can feel any play, you should check the source of it.. If you see the arm coming from the steering rack moving and down see the wheel moving, it’s time to renew the rod end!
We now also offer high quality Elise S2 track rod ends at (nearly) S1 prices!
S2 Track Rod Ends are the same as the VX220 TRE’s.
